Replace your faulty oven element with this 2 turn, 2450 watt element. Learn more about oven elements below:

What does the fan oven element do?
The fan oven element is responsible for heating the oven cavity in order to cook the food. In an electric cooker when the cooker knob is turned on, electricity flows to the element which causes it to heat up. Once the element reaches the desired temperature then the electricity flow switches on and off to maintain the temperature. This process is controlled by the thermostat.

Is the fan oven element causing the problem?
The following faults typically indicate a problem with the oven element:

o The fan oven is blowing out cold air
o The oven won't heat up at all
o The element doesn't heat up during operation
o There are bright spots or uneven patches on the element during use.
*Remember that a blown oven element may not be the only fault that can cause these issues to arise.

When you should replace an oven element
Fan oven elements are not consumable parts and they only need to be replaced if they fail. Oven elements fail when the internal element filament burns out, this can cause the element to short circuit. There may be visible signs the element has blown such as a split, bulge, or blow hole on the element.

There are a number of factors that can cause an oven element to blow. Damage due to the expansion and contraction of the element coils caused by the element constantly heating up and cooling down is a very common cause. While other causes of element failure can include overheating as a result of a failed thermostat or in some cases a build-up of grease causing the fan motor to run slowly.

    Beware of associated problems?
There are a number of oven faults that can contribute to a faulty oven element and if not corrected they could easily shorten the lifespan of your new replacement element. You need to ensure that hot air isn't escaping from the oven as this will cause the thermostat to cycle more regularly, meaning the fan oven element will need to work much harder to maintain temperature.

To avoid heat escaping you should ensure the oven doorseal is in good condition and fits tightly. You should also limit any gaps caused by a poor fitting oven door by replacing the hinges if they have become bent or damaged.

How to replace a fan oven element (Don't foget to checkout the video below!)

    1. On most models you will need to remove the panel in front of the element, this will usually be held in place by a few retaining screws. You should then be able to see and access the element.
    2. The element will probably have some retaining screws that need to be removed before you pull the element out.
    3. You will then need to remove the clips and detach the wires to separate the faulty element from the oven. If the clips are a bit tight you can just use some pliers.
    4. To fit the new element, you just need to wire it in, fix it to the back panel and re-attach the housing.
*These instructions are intended to provide a general guide and the process may be slightly different depending on the model of oven you own. Remember, to disconnect the appliance and turn off the power before attempting the repair.

Help and tips from the appliance repair experts

    1. When removing the faulty element, why not take a photo of where the wires go just to be double sure that you put the new element in exactly the same way.
    2. If you're struggling to get enough space to remove the element, removing the oven door will enable you to access to the whole inside of the oven.
    3. When the faulty element is removed, you will be able to access the fan. Take the opportunity to clear the blades of any debris that may be affecting the airflow.

While you're replacing the element, why not…
Give your oven a thorough clean inside and out with a good-quality oven cleaner. This will help to stop grease and debris building up and affecting internal parts like the fan motor.
